I write and teach about a range of topics pertaining to identity. These include: migration, citizenship, popular music, violence, city life, food and sports. Areas of concentration include: Brazil, Portugal and Cape Verde; more generally, Latin America, Western Europe and West Africa.

Ultimately, I have striven to convey the following to students and colleagues as an approach to life and work: we can only serve the greater good if we are able to balance the diversity of human experience with the regulatory measurements of policy and law. In the main, we have favored the latter over the former. We should adjust.
